ELOISE JAPHET ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

GNA Architecture is an Associate Architect for this project which was completed in October, 2015.  GNA was in collaboration with three other architectural firms. GNA’s responsibility began during public input process and continued in all phases to provide the life safety analysis of the building design. Additionally, GNA provided quality assurance / quality control of the contract documents pertaining to the interior portion of the design. The school is organized around an interior courtyard inspired by local traditions.  A shaded plaza for drop-offs and pick-ups is a practical solution to our harsh environment during many months of the school year.  A heritage hall in the new school honors the example of local community leader Eloise Japhet. The building is brick veneer; the foundation design had to take into consideration severe soil and drainage conditions.
